Cobra Kai: Tory’s Journey So Far

In Cobra Kai Season 6, the Miyagi-Do Dojo faces a major dilemma: they’re not only preparing for the crucial Sekai Takai tournament but also grappling with a shocking betrayal from one of their own.

Tory Nichols, played by Peyton List, started out as a troubled teen with a fierce temper. She joined the Cobra Kai dojo under John Kreese, who mentored her in his ruthless ways, turning her into a formidable adversary, especially for Samantha LaRusso. She even earned the nickname “Queen Cobra.”

Her fierce nature led to serious trouble at school, including her expulsion from West Valley High after injuring Sam badly and sparking a major karate war. Tory’s tenacity paid off when she won the girls’ division at the All-Valley Tournament, though her victory was tainted by the revelation that Cobra Kai had rigged the match with the referee’s help.

This betrayal by Cobra Kai motivated Tory to switch sides. She joined forces with the Miyagi-Do crew, rekindled her romance with Robby, and patched things up with Sam.

Cobra Kai Season 6: Tory’s Heartbreaking Loss

In Season 6, Episode 5, things take a tragic turn when Tory’s mother, Grace, passes away. Grace had been battling a severe kidney complication, and her death deeply affects Tory. Known for her tough exterior, Tory’s softer side is revealed as she struggles with her grief.

Tory was set to compete in the Sekai Takai tournament for Miyagi-Do but chose to leave the team after learning of her mother’s death, handing her spot to Hawk. Peyton List, reflecting on this emotional scene, admitted it was one of her toughest moments, especially given the usually light-hearted atmosphere on set.

Season 6 delivers a major twist when Tory reverts to Cobra Kai, joining John Kreese’s revived dojo just in time for the Sekai Takai. Her decision seems to stem from her personal turmoil following her mother’s death.

Sam, Robby, and the rest of the Miyagi-Do crew are stunned by Tory’s switch, which throws their tournament preparations into disarray. Robby, now Miyagi-Do’s team captain, is particularly affected, feeling betrayed and thrown off balance. Actor Tanner Buchanan, who plays Robby, revealed that Tory’s decision has left him feeling disoriented and uncertain about his next move.

What’s Next for Tory?

The second part of Cobra Kai’s final season will likely explore how Robby and Sam try to persuade Tory to return to Miyagi-Do. With Robby’s emotional state potentially making him vulnerable to Cobra Kai’s manipulations, the stakes are high. Meanwhile, Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso might join forces to convince Tory to rejoin the good guys, using Kreese’s dark past as a reminder of why she left Cobra Kai in the first place.
