The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) in a circular today, April 8 announced that the markets will remain shut on May 20, 2024 on the account of Lok Sabha elections in the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra. Lok Sabha elections in the state of Maharashtra will be held in five different phases, starting April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13 and May 20, the Election Commission had announced last month.

“The exchange notifies Monday, May 20, 2024 as a trading holiday on account of Parliamentary Elections in Mumbai. Members are requested to take note of the same,” NSE said in a circular on Monday.

The date for counting of votes nationwide is set as June 04, 2024. Experts believe that the ongoing political reforms and stability will aid the markets to scale higher further.
