Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) announced the appointment of three new independent directors, Venkata Ramana Murthy Pinisetti, Shishir Babubhai Desai, and Uttam Prakash Agarwal, effective from December 17, 2023. The media and entertainment conglomerate disclosed this information in a stock exchange filing following its Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Murthy Pinisetti, recognized as a lawyer, author, and academic practitioner in human resources and organization development, will lead the employment and labor law practice at Economic Laws Practice (ELP), as stated in the filing. Desai, a solicitor with 44 years of experience, is enrolled with the Bombay Incorporated Law Society and serves as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales (Non-Practicing). He is also a member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.
Agarwal, a chartered accountant with over three decades of experience in taxation, finance, and restructuring, brings expertise in areas such as statutory audit, income leakage audit, concurrent audit, and stock audit of public sector banks under RBI’s appointment.
The appointment of these three independent directors follows the departure of Vivek Mehra and Sasha Mirchandani, who did not secure enough votes. ZEE expressed appreciation for their significant contributions to the company and highlighted their roles on the boards of other leading public listed companies, emphasizing their impact on corporate governance ethics. The new appointments mark a strategic move in Zee Entertainment’s board restructuring as it continues to evolve its leadership team.
