Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla reportedly avoided the proceedings on Wednesday morning because he was displeased with the frequent interruptions in the House. On Wednesday, the Parliament reconvened for the day, but the Speaker of the Lok Sabha was not in the chair.
According to sources who spoke to news agency ANI on Wednesday, the Lok Sabha has seen boisterous scenes since the Monsoon session began. Speaker Om Birla has made the decision to abstain from presiding over the Lower House till the members act in a way that upholds the House’s dignity.
According to reports, Om Birla has voiced his extreme dissatisfaction with the way the House is run, including both the opposition and the ruling party, ANI has reported.
According to PTI, parliament officials stated that Om Birla was dissatisfied with the actions of the Treasury and Opposition benches during the Tuesday’s bill-passing session in the Lok Sabha.
According to the insiders, the Speaker has expressed his disapproval of the frequent interruptions in Parliament since the Monsoon session started on July 20 to both the opposition and the Treasury benches.
The speaker of the Lok Sabha informed all parties that he would not return to the legislature unless Members of Parliament behaved with the appropriate decorum. Birla did not approach the Speaker’s chair when the House convened even today.
As the Lok Sabha convened for its post-lunch meeting, opposition lawmakers crowded into the House’s well and chanted on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to issue a statement regarding the Manipur crisis.
The chair, BJP member Kirit Solanki, ordered ministers to place parliamentary papers on the table of the House while pleading with the opposition to behave civilly.
The Chair ended the day’s sessions because the opposition leaders would not bend.
Since the start of the monsoon session of Parliament on July 20, opposition MPs have insisted on getting a thorough discussion on Manipur and a response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
