The biggest spike in the daily number of Coronavirus cases was reported on Thursday. The states reported 20,903 fresh cases, taking the country’s tally to 6,25,544. On a positive side, recoveries have also been increasing with over 3,79,891 patients getting recovered so far. In the last 24 hours, over 20,032 patients were recovered – the highest single-day recoveries yet.
On Thursday, 379 patients succumbed to the Coronavirus infection taking the death toll to 18,213.
As per the health ministry, the country has 2,27,439 active cases. The recovery rate has increased to 60.72%.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 2,29,588 samples were tested for the Coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours. Till July 1, over 90 lakh samples have been tested so far across the country.
Another potential Coronavirus vaccine has got a nod from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI). It has been developed by the Ahmedabad-based Cadila Healthcare Ltd.
The data released by the Johns Hopkins University shows that over 1.08 crore people have been infected by Coronavirus and over 5.2 lakh fatalities have been recorded across the globe.
