With a giant Happy Meal box and bamboo Towers, the gates to the OSI food solutions site in Scunthorpe have been blocked by activists from animal rebellion, as per a report released by BBC News.
Shifting to a fully plant-based food menu by 2025 has been demanded by the group. Around 50 protestors had their presence as said by the Humberside police while the OSI and McDonald’s have been contacted for comment.
As long as it is needed to cause massive disruption, the animal rebellion said that it would remain at the site but if McDonald’s commits to switch its 20% menu plant-based within one year, they would end the blockade.
It was mentioned by spokesperson Rose Patterson that the firm was just a symbol of the system which the group was trying to change. She said that we must start transitioning towards a plant-based food system to save ourselves and the future of children.
Although it was not revealed by the company whether any stocks at its branches were been affected it warned the customers that while ordering at the time of protest, they might face disappointment.
To bring about a transition to a just and sustainable plant-based food system, animal rebellion has described itself as a mass movement that uses non-violent civil disobedience for the same.
