President Donald Trump went after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene again on Saturday. He called her a traitor and said she changed after he stopped returning her many phone calls. He wrote all of this in a post on Truth Social right after she announced she is resigning from Congress.
Trump said Greene is quitting because her poll numbers are dropping and she did not want to face a primary challenge from someone he might endorse. He said she would have no chance of winning against a Trump-backed opponent. He also said her close friendship with Rep. Tom Massie hurt her. Trump called Massie the worst Republican in years and said he often votes against his own party.
Trump added that Greene became angry with him when he stopped replying to her constant calls. Even so, he said he still thanks her for her service.
Greene announced late Friday that she is stepping down from Congress. This came one week after Trump pulled his endorsement and began publicly attacking her. Greene had been one of Trump’s strongest supporters for years.
In her long message on X, she said she is tired of Washington and the way politics works. She said politicians from both parties use regular Americans as tools in a fight that never ends. She said every election makes people hate each other more while nothing improves for ordinary families.
She admitted Trump’s recent criticism hurt her. He has called her wacky and a ranting lunatic. But she said her faith keeps her strong and her self-worth does not come from any man.
Greene said she will leave office on January 5, 2026 and return to the people she loves.
