The 56-year-old singer, actress, and style icon shared a series of Instagram selfies over the weekend, showing off a platinum blonde pin-up hairstyle, thinned brows, and a bold red lip—an appearance quite different from her signature middle-parted light brunette locks. In one snap, Lopez was even seen sitting in a bathtub, reviewing sketches for upcoming costumes.
The transformation left fans buzzing—and not just for the dramatic change itself. Many immediately compared Lopez to another early-2000s fashion icon: Gwen Stefani. Known for her platinum locks, pin-up aesthetic, and signature red lipstick, Stefani’s style influence was clear to fans scrolling through Lopez’s posts.

The reason for Lopez’s bold new look? She’s stepping into the role of Aurora in the upcoming musical thriller Kiss of the Spider Woman. The film, set in 1983, follows political prisoner Valentín, who shares a cell with a man named Molina, and the unlikely bond they form as Molina recounts the plot of a Hollywood musical. Lopez will star alongside Diego Luna, embracing the glitz and glamour of old Hollywood for the part.
“Stepping into the role of Aurora felt like dancing through the golden age of cinema … with all the glitz, glamour, and a whole lot of dancing. Stepping back into time has never been so much fun,” Lopez captioned the post.
Kiss of the Spider Woman is set to hit cinemas next month, on October 10, and Lopez’s platinum makeover is just the first peek at the old-Hollywood aesthetic she’ll bring to the screen.
