Attention X-Men fans! It has now been officially confirmed by both Disney + and Marvel Projects that there will be an X-Men ’97 Season Two coming this summer of 2026. However, it will not be coming out on the 6th of May, 2026.

Once again, Disney + and Marvel Animation have agreed on their plan for X-Men ’97 Season Two, together with the premiere of Season Two at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City on June 13th, 2026, before being added to VOD shortly thereafter. The second season of X-Men ’97 will have nine episodes and will all follow a darker theme than the previous season, while paving the way for Season Three, which has already been green-lit at the NYCC 2025.

What is up with all the May confusion? There was a lot of speculation regarding a possible release date of May 2026, because of inaccurate countdown sites as well as glitching Disney+ apps in multiple regions, which briefly listed various ambiguous dates. However, Disney’s and Marvel’s official stance is still: Summer 2026.

The bulk of the creative team responsible for creating X-Men ’97, as well as writer Beau DeMayo’s legacy, will remain in place, with a new Showrunner. There will also be a lot of exploration into the continued political landscape for mutants and the ongoing effects of Genosha, as well as the return of classic X-Men, and new villains that will challenge all of the X-Men’s unification.

Season One of X-Men ’97 was a big hit not only among fans but also among critics, showing that superhero animated storytelling has an emotional impact and an ongoing storyline. Rushing to get Season Two out could risk the second season’s use of hand-drawn animation and character development that helped Season One be successful.

Season Two will have a release date of Summer 2026 (June), and fans should have already started watching Season One until Disney+ officially announces a date to view the second season of X-Men ’97. If you are thinking about the X-Men universe, patience is one of the ways to plan for your success.
