Shocking new footage from Kanye West’s documentary, In Whose Name?, captures the rapper in a heated argument with his former mother-in-law, Kris Jenner, leaving her in tears. The film, released in US cinemas today, spans six years of West’s life and includes more than 3,000 hours of behind-the-scenes footage compiled by director Nico Ballesteros.
The documentary covers key events in West’s life, including his split from Kim Kardashian, with whom he shares four children: North, 12, Saint, nine, Chicago, seven, and six-year-old Psalm. Kim filed for divorce in February 2021, with the legal split finalised in November 2022.
In one particularly intense clip, West confronts Jenner about his mental health and medication, saying: “Y’all demasculated me and made me feel like a piece of s**t. And the only reason you got away with it is because I was medicated. I would rather be dead than to be on medication.” He continues to shout “it doesn’t matter” at Jenner, who tearfully responds, “It matters to us. It matters to us, and you. It doesn’t matter what the internet says. It matters what we think, Ye.”
The confrontation comes after other scenes showing West exploding at a crying Kim Kardashian when discussing his decision to stop taking medication for bipolar disorder. In a teaser, Kim tells West: “Your personality was not like this a few years ago,” following his admission that he had been off his meds for five months.
In Whose Name? offers an unfiltered look at West’s personal life, including his controversial stunts, public breakdowns, and family struggles, providing fans with a rare glimpse into the highs and lows of the 44-year-old rapper’s life.
