Liam Payne’s final on-screen appearance will take place in Building the Band, a new reality music competition set to premiere in early July on Netflix. The show marks a poignant farewell for the late singer, as he joins fellow artists Nicole Scherzinger and Kelly Rowland as guest judges. The series gained buzz following a preview showcased during Netflix’s annual Tudum event, after which the streaming giant announced its episode rollout schedule.

Hosted by AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys, Building the Band offers a fresh twist on music competition formats. Singers will attempt to form the ideal band while placed in separate booths, unable to see one another. The challenge lies in creating musical harmony purely based on voice, connection, and artistic instinct. According to the show’s official description, the real test begins once the bands meet face to face, factoring in visual dynamics like style, choreography, and chemistry. With high-stakes performances and emotional storytelling, the series promises an intense journey toward discovering the next standout band.

The episode release schedule is structured over three weeks: Episodes 101–104 debut on July 9, episodes 105–107 follow on July 16, and the finale drops on July 23. Netflix also shared that Liam Payne’s family viewed and approved his appearance in the show, expressing their support for his legacy being honored in this way.

Payne’s tragic passing in Buenos Aires shook fans and the music industry alike. At just 31 years old, the former One Direction member reportedly died after falling from the third-floor balcony of his hotel room. Emergency responders declared him dead at the scene. His funeral, held in November, was attended by all his former bandmates, underscoring the deep bonds they continued to share.

Building the Band now stands as a final tribute to Payne’s enduring presence in the music world—a celebration of the same passion and artistry that first introduced him to global fame.
