Just hours before officially wrapping up his military service, BTS’ RM gave fans a heartfelt glimpse into his final moments as a soldier—and a cheerful welcome back to civilian life. On June 9, RM took to Instagram to mark the occasion with a set of charming photos that reflect both pride and relief at completing his 18-month journey in the South Korean military.
Dressed in his military uniform, RM shared a mix of black-and-white and colored images taken at a photobooth. The series captured his playful and thoughtful side: from squishing his cheek in a cute pose, to giving a crisp salute, and flashing a relaxed, relieved smile. One photo even showed him locking eyes with the camera with a more serious, charismatic gaze. The caption he wrote was short but packed with emotion: “I’m discharging [from the military]. The end.” It perfectly summed up the pride and closure he felt as he prepared to return to civilian life.
RM’s post added to the growing excitement surrounding BTS’ highly anticipated group comeback. Along with V, RM was officially discharged on June 10. Both members had earned high regard during their time in the military—V having served in the elite Special Duty Team (SDT), and RM in the 15th Infantry Division’s military band. Their return marks a major moment for the group and its global fandom, ARMY.
According to reports, RM and V reunited at the Chuncheon military base on discharge day. Following right after them, Jimin and Jungkook—who enlisted together—are scheduled to be discharged on June 11 from their own base in Yeoncheon. The two are expected to deliver post-discharge messages to fans, much like RM and V did.
Adding more excitement, it’s likely that Jin and J-Hope, the two members who’ve already completed their service, will meet up with the newly discharged members, just as they did when Jin returned last year. However, BIGHIT MUSIC has urged fans not to visit the military bases in person, citing safety concerns and the need to prevent overcrowding during these sensitive moments.
Rounding out the chapter, SUGA is set to complete his alternative service on June 21. With that, all seven BTS members will have completed their military duties, making way for a long-awaited full group reunion—something fans across the world have been dreaming of for nearly two years.
