It appears that no matter how much Donald Trump criticizes George Clooney, the veteran actor remains unfazed. In his most recent conversation with Gayle King on CBS Mornings, Clooney responded gracefully to the US President’s comments, where Trump called him a “fake movie actor” on Truth Social.
Clooney, who was on the show to promote his Broadway debut in Good Night, and Good Luck, was asked by King about Trump’s remarks. The actor, known for his roles in Ocean’s Eleven and other major films, remained calm and unconcerned. He simply stated that he didn’t “care” about the criticism. Clooney went on to share that he has known Trump for quite some time, but emphasized that his job is not to please the President. “My job is not to please the President of the United States. My job is to try and tell the truth when I can and when I have the opportunity,” he explained.
Acknowledging that public figures often face criticism for their opinions, Clooney added, “I’m aware that people will not like that, and they will criticize that.” He further noted that even tech mogul Elon Musk had commented on him. Clooney recognized that people have the right to voice their opinions, just as he has the right to express his own views.
This isn’t the first time Clooney has spoken out politically. In a recent op-ed for The New York Times, Clooney urged then-President Joe Biden to consider stepping down as the Democratic nominee for the next election. He argued that Biden, despite his accomplishments, could give the party a better chance at defeating Trump by stepping aside due to concerns about his age.
Trump, never one to shy away from a public spat, responded on Truth Social, stating, “So now fake movie actor George Clooney, who never came close to making a great movie, is getting into the act.” He went on to criticize both Clooney and Biden, calling them “rats” and accusing them of turning on each other.
Despite Trump’s harsh words, Clooney remains unshaken, standing firm in his belief that speaking the truth is more important than pandering to political figures. His response reflects both his resilience and his commitment to his values, whether on screen or in the political arena.
