Post Malone has gained a significant advantage in the custody battle over his two-year-old daughter, thanks to his swift legal maneuvering. The chart-topping artist filed for custody in Utah just days before his ex-fiancée, Hee Sung “Jamie” Park, submitted her own petition in California—an early move that could save him millions in potential child support payments.
Court documents obtained by Page Six reveal that Malone, whose full name is Austin Richard Post, filed his custody paperwork on Monday, April 14, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Two days later, Park filed her petition in Los Angeles. Because Malone filed first, Utah now has jurisdiction over the case, which could prove to be a financially advantageous outcome for him. Utah’s child support laws are generally less expensive than California’s, a key factor in the ongoing battle.
Sources told TMZ that Malone and Park had shared 50/50 custody in Utah prior to their split, which likely influenced his decision to file in that state. Park reportedly moved to California in early 2025, following the couple’s breakup in late 2024. Insiders suggest her move was financially motivated, possibly with the intention of benefiting from California’s more favorable custodial laws.
For the first time, Park’s identity was publicly confirmed last Friday amid reports of her attempt to seek full custody. Their daughter, born on May 26, 2022, is referred to only as “DDP” in court documents, with her name still undisclosed.
Malone, 29, has not publicly commented on the custody proceedings, and details of his legal filings have yet to be fully revealed. Meanwhile, the “Sunflower” singer has moved on personally, as he is now dating Christy Lee, a student at Parsons School of Design. The new couple has been spotted together in public on several occasions, including a shopping trip in Paris earlier this month.
