Paramount+ has debuted a deeply emotional two-part documentary titled The Carters, diving into the rise and unraveling of one of pop culture’s most high-profile families. Premiering on April 15, the series offers a raw and intimate portrayal of the late pop star Aaron Carter and his brother, Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter, chronicling their early fame, family dynamics, and the tragedy that followed their success.

Viewers can stream The Carters on Paramount+; new users are eligible for a seven-day free trial to watch the docuseries. The documentary traces Aaron’s early rise to stardom as a child singer in the late 1990s and his heartbreaking decline in the years that followed, including his struggles with addiction and mental illness, which eventually led to his untimely death at age 34 in November 2022.

Narrated by their sister Angel Carter and directed by Soleil Moon Frye, the documentary goes beyond the headlines to reveal the complicated relationships and deep emotional scars within the Carter family. It details the tragic loss of three of the five Carter siblings, as well as their father, painting a sobering picture of fame’s dark side.

With never-before-seen home videos, personal footage, and candid interviews, the series provides a comprehensive look at how immense public exposure and unresolved trauma contributed to the family’s fragmentation. It examines the toll of early fame and the long-term consequences it had on Aaron and Nick’s lives, set against the backdrop of a family both celebrated and haunted by the spotlight.

The Carters is available now for streaming exclusively on Paramount+.
