Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez are showing everyone that old friendships can be rekindled, as they grow closer than ever after years of rumors about a falling out. The two stars, who both rose to fame on the Disney Channel, have been spending a lot of time together recently, especially during the 2025 Oscars. According to a source, the pair had a great time together, with their respective partners—Miley’s boyfriend Maxx Morando and Selena’s fiancé Benny Blanco—hitting it off as well. The four of them are now planning a cozy double date at Selena and Benny’s home, where the couple is even preparing a homemade dinner.
Miley and Selena’s friendship had a bit of a bumpy road in the past, mainly due to the infamous love triangle involving Nick Jonas. Miley and Nick were together from 2006 to 2008, and Selena briefly dated him in 2008. After their breakups, the girls were often rumored to be feuding. The drama escalated in 2014 when Miley threw a cardboard cutout of Selena off the stage during a concert. However, Selena’s former co-star Jennifer Stone later brushed off the drama, calling it “messy high school nonsense” that wasn’t a big deal.
In recent years, though, both Miley and Selena have shown support for each other. In 2022, Miley complimented Selena for hosting Saturday Night Live, and Selena playfully mentioned that Miley had given her great advice for the show. In 2016, Selena herself denied there was ever a real feud, explaining that the drama was simply the result of them both liking the same guy when they were 16, much like the rivalry between Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan. Both stars have since moved on, with Miley dating Maxx since 2021 and Selena getting engaged to Benny in late 2024.
Now that they’ve put the past behind them, Miley and Selena are building a genuine friendship. Their upcoming double date shows just how far they’ve come since their teenage years, proving that even old drama can eventually turn into a strong, supportive relationship.
