Benny Blanco made his 37th birthday one to remember—not just for himself, but for Selena Gomez too. During his appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the music producer revealed that he threw a prom-themed birthday party so Gomez could finally experience something she missed out on in her youth: going to prom.
“Selena never had a prom growing up,” Benny shared, “so I thought, why not give her that moment now?” Instead of throwing a typical birthday bash, he decided to turn the night into a special event for her. “I made the night all about us. It was her first prom, and I wanted it to feel real.”
While Benny had already been to prom twice—once with friends and once with a girlfriend—he said this one topped them all. “My favorite prom was with my partner,” he said with a smile, drawing warm applause from the audience. He explained that Selena was unsure about how to prepare. “She was like, ‘Wait, what do I wear? What do I do?!’” Benny laughed, recalling how sweet and genuine her reaction was.
To make the evening feel even more authentic, Benny gifted Selena a corsage—a classic prom tradition where one partner gives the other a small bouquet to wear. “I got her a corsage and everything,” he said proudly. “It felt like she was really living out that high school moment.”
Since then, the couple has been seen enjoying each other’s company publicly. Most recently, they were spotted sitting courtside at the Knicks vs. Celtics game at Madison Square Garden on April 8. In a photo posted by the official Knicks account, the two looked cozy and in love—Benny rested his hand on Selena’s legs while she smiled, showing off her marquise diamond engagement ring.
Their relationship went public in December 2023, and they’ve only grown closer since. In March 2025, they released their first joint album I Said I Love You First, which tells the story of their love—from how it started to where it’s headed.
