Meghan Markle only utilized her first name to address herself in new podcast

Meghan Markle has once again stirred discussion online, this time for how she’s presenting herself publicly. In the debut episode of her new podcast Confessions of a Female Founder, she introduced herself simply as “Meghan,” leaving out both “Markle” and her royal title, “Sussex.” It’s a subtle but noticeable shift—especially since, just last month, she was heavily criticized for insisting on being called “Sussex” during an interview with Mindy Kaling on With Love, Meghan.

During that earlier episode, when Kaling casually referred to her as “Meghan Markle,” Meghan quipped, “You keep saying Meghan Markle. You know I’m Sussex now,” explaining that it means a lot to her to share a family name with her husband, Prince Harry, and their kids. That moment quickly spread on social media, where many users slammed her for being overly formal or too fixated on titles.

Fast-forward to her podcast launch, and she appears to be taking a new approach. Neither the episode credits nor the promo banner use her last name or title—just Meghan. It’s a notable departure from her usual public identity and may be a deliberate effort to appear more relatable and less tied to royal branding, especially in a show focused on women entrepreneurs and leadership.

Whether it’s a rebranding strategy or just a personal choice to keep things casual, the internet is definitely paying attention.
