Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez are set to drop their highly anticipated album I Said I Love You First, and ahead of its release, they shared some insights into their creative process during a conversation on Spotify. In a teaser clip, the engaged couple revealed how they collaborated on the album, discussing the chaos and the inspiration behind the lyrics and tunes.

Blanco, dressed casually in a white shirt and printed bottoms, asked Gomez about how she found the lyrics and melodies for the album. The Only Murders in the Building star explained that their creative process was very organic, with conversations flowing naturally as they discussed what was on their minds. She described it as a back-and-forth dynamic, with questions like, “What is that?” and “How does that make you feel?”

Blanco jokingly compared his role in the process to being Gomez’s personal journal. “Yeah, I felt like your personal journal,” he said, to which Gomez playfully responded, “Well, you are!” He then shared how he would often jot down notes when Gomez said something that resonated with him, saying, “Sometimes you’d be saying something, like, really important, and I would—I didn’t know if you even realized—but I would open my phone and be like, ‘F—, that’s such a good line for a song.'”
