Sabrina Carpenter had to make a certain adjustment to get Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton, known for her classic songs and sparkling personality, recently collaborated with Sabrina Carpenter on a remix of Carpenter’s hit song Please, Please, Please. However, before agreeing to work together, Parton made it clear that she has strict boundaries when it comes to language and content, particularly cursing. Parton, who has always kept her music wholesome, told Carpenter that she doesn’t curse, make fun of Jesus, or speak negatively about God. She did add with a chuckle that she might drop an expletive if she’s angry enough, though.

To respect Parton’s wishes, Carpenter adjusted the remix, replacing the original curse word in the chorus (“motherf—er”) with a milder phrase: “I beg you, don’t embarrass me like the others.” The remix was released as part of the deluxe edition of Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet album on February 14, mixing Carpenter’s pop style with Parton’s country charm.

Both artists shared fun behind-the-scenes moments from their collaboration on social media, with Carpenter jokingly acknowledging Parton’s stance on swearing. They also created a playful, retro-themed music video, which features the two driving a pickup truck, along with a cheeky reference to Carpenter’s ex. Carpenter expressed how much of a privilege it was to work with one of her childhood icons.

The music video has been a success, amassing over 11 million views on YouTube and reaching the top spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.
