The music world was left in shock when news broke of Liam Payne’s untimely passing. Now, several months later, his former partner, Cheryl, has been seen in public for the first time since the tragedy.

Cheryl, who shares an 8-year-old son, Bear, with the late What Makes You Beautiful singer, was reportedly spotted at a restaurant. Her appearance coincided with their son’s birthday on March 22. She was seen dining with her mother and her manager, Lily England, marking her first public outing since Payne’s passing.

In the months following his death, more details about the circumstances surrounding Payne’s final moments have emerged. A February report revealed that the former One Direction star had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 2.7 grams per liter at the time of his death—a dangerously high level. This information came from the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office No. 14.

Further toxicology reports, as published by PEOPLE, indicated that Payne had multiple substances in his system, including cocaine metabolites, methylecgonine, benzoylecgonine, cocaethylene, and the antidepressant sertraline.

For those unfamiliar with the details, Payne tragically passed away on October 16, 2024, at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was just 31 years old.

His death has also led to legal action. Braian Paiz, an individual connected to the case, was charged with selling narcotics. However, Paiz has denied selling drugs to Payne, claiming he only offered them as a gift. Despite this claim, security footage later surfaced showing Payne asking for cash at his hotel’s front desk.

In November, a detailed report confirmed that Payne had consumed alcohol, cocaine, and prescription antidepressants within 72 hours of his death. Additionally, the initial autopsy revealed multiple injuries, as well as both internal and external hemorrhaging, raising further questions about the tragic loss of the beloved singer.
