Stock market today: S&P 500 and NASDAQ 100 both witness decline of 1.66% and 0.58% simultaneously

 The S&P 500 recorded a drop of 1.66%, settling at 6,000.14 USD.

As of 9:42 AM EST today, major U.S. stock indices showed declines. The U.S. market started the week on a low as Chinese startup DeepSeek made claims about the efficiency of AI assistant and that it uses cheaper chips and less data than the leading companies. This claim led to decline of major tech stocks in the U.S. market.  

 The S&P 500 recorded a drop of 1.66%, settling at 6,000.14 USD. Similarly, the NASDAQ 100 Index slipped by 0.58%, reaching 21,774.01 USD.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average Index also saw a modest decrease, down 0.23% to 44,321.16 USD, while the NASDAQ Composite Index fell 0.50%, standing at 19,954.30 USD. The NYSE Composite Index followed the trend, declining 0.45% to 19,907.1162 USD.
