Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried are set to star in The Housemaid, a film adaptation of Freida McFadden’s best-selling novel, “Housemaid”. The movie will be directed by Paul Feig, who is popularly known for Bridesmaids and A Simple Favor, the psychological thriller will be produced by Lionsgate, adding yet another highly anticipated project to the studio’s slate.

Sweeney, best known for her standout role in Euphoria, will portray Millie, a young woman desperate for a fresh start after a period of struggle. Millie finds herself employed as a housemaid for a wealthy couple, Nina (played by Seyfried) and Andrew. However, according to the official synopsis, Millie’s relief is short-lived as she uncovers dangerous secrets lurking within the family she serves—secrets that are far more sinister than anything from her own troubled past.

Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “A great filmmaker and a great cast with a great script from a great book is a terrific place to start. My prior work experiences with Paul and Amanda have been nothing short of spectacular, and Sydney is as talented and compelling as can be.”

The film’s screenplay is being adapted by Rebecca Sonnenshine, known for her work on The Boys. Sweeney and Seyfried are not only starring in the film but also serving as executive producers alongside author Freida McFadden and Alex Young. The production is backed by Hidden Pictures, with Todd Lieberman producing and Carly Kleinbart Elter overseeing for the company.
