Chappell Roan recently had to withdraw from her scheduled performances at the All Things Go music festival in New York City and Maryland due to health issues. The *Hot To Go* singer explained to her fans that she needed to take time off to focus on her mental well-being. She shared this on her Instagram story, apologizing to those who were excited to see her perform.
Roan expressed her regret, saying she’s “unable to perform” due to feeling overwhelmed in recent weeks. She emphasized that while she had many priorities to balance, her health had to come first. “I want to be present when I perform and give the best shows possible. Thank you for understanding. Be back soon,” she wrote. The festival organizers also showed their support by reposting her message with kind words.
This year, Roan has rapidly risen in fame, especially after the release of her 2023 album *The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess* and becoming the opening act for Olivia Rodrigo’s *Guts* World Tour. She’s also been in the spotlight for her political views. In a *Guardian* interview, Roan encouraged critical thinking before voting but made it clear she wasn’t endorsing either Kamala Harris or Donald Trump. After receiving backlash, she clarified on social media that while she plans to vote for Harris, she isn’t offering her endorsement. She explained that voting and endorsing are two different things, and she will always question those in positions of power.
Roan, who has been diagnosed with severe depression, has also shared how her rising fame has worsened her mental health. In one interview, she revealed her struggle with brain fog, forgetfulness, and lack of energy, issues that were flagged by her doctor.
Despite these challenges, Roan recently celebrated a major win at the 2024 MTV VMAs, where she took home the Best New Artist award. In her acceptance speech, she thanked the queer community for their support and celebrated becoming a viral pop sensation, calling herself “your favorite artist’s favorite artist.”
