Adria Arjona’s ascent in Hollywood has been steady, but it’s Netflix’s upcoming film “Hit Man” that might just catapult her into superstardom.
In the action rom-com directed by Richard Linklater of the Before trilogy, Arjona portrays Madison Masters, a character whose journey from a victim of abuse to a complex femme fatale is captivatingly brought to life by the actress. Opposite Glen Powell’s hitman character, Madison’s story unfolds as the lines between reality and pretense blur, creating a chemistry-filled dynamic that critics have lauded.
With an almost flawless critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, “Hit Man” is poised to be a streaming sensation upon its June 7 release on Netflix. Arjona’s magnetic performance in the film could very well propel her career to new heights. However, if her face seems familiar, it’s because she’s been making waves in the industry since 2012.
While “Hit Man” marks one of Arjona’s biggest movie roles to date, her resume boasts an array of noteworthy projects from the past decade.
In the realm of television, Arjona notably appeared in “Andor,” the 2022 Star Wars series, portraying Bix Caleen, Cassian’s ex-girlfriend and trusted ally. She also made an impact as Anathema Device in the Amazon MGM/BBC series “Good Omens” and starred in “Irma Vep” and “Emerald City.”
On the silver screen, Arjona’s versatility shines through in projects like Sony/Marvel’s “Morbius” and Michael Bay’s “6 Underground.” She’s also been part of smaller films such as “Sweet Girl,” “Life of the Party,” and “Triple Frontier.” Not to mention her role as Sofia Herrera in the Cuban-American remake of “Father of the Bride.”
Looking ahead, Arjona has exciting projects in store, including Zoë Kravitz’s directorial debut “Blink Twice” and “Los Frikis,” a film that made waves at the 2024 Miami Film Festival. With such a diverse and impressive body of work, it’s no wonder Arjona’s star continues to rise in Hollywood.
