Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder, who have collaborated four times, have been at the center of persistent rumors suggesting they may have married for real on the set of the 1992 vampire movie Bram Stoker’s Dracula. During promotional duties for John Wick, Reeves addressed these rumors in a 2021 interview with Esquire (via The Independent).
Reeves stated, “We did a whole take of a marriage ceremony with real priests. Winona says we are. [Director Francis Ford] Coppola says we are. So I guess we’re married under the eyes of God.”
In Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Reeves played Jonathan Harker, and Ryder played Mina Harker, portraying an on-screen couple. The film, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, starred Gary Oldman as the villainous vampire. While the movie received mixed reviews, with some criticizing Reeves’s performance, the rumored on-set marriage has become a memorable anecdote from their collaboration.
