Colombian stocks finished Friday just above flat. Small gains were enough to push the market higher.
The COLCAP index rose 0.01% by the close. Industrial, services, and agriculture stocks helped support the move.
Grupo Nutresa was the biggest winner of the day. Its shares climbed 2.02% and closed at 281,600. Grupo Energia Bogota also moved higher. It gained 1.53% and ended at 2,985. Grupo Argos preferred shares rose 1.41% to 12,980.
Not all stocks had a good session.
Grupo Bolivar fell the most. The stock dropped 2.72% to 89,500. Organizacion Terpel declined 1.32% and closed at 19,400. Corporacion Financiera Colombiana slipped 1.04% to 17,200.
Overall activity was quiet. There were more declining stocks than advancing ones, showing limited momentum across the market.
In commodities, coffee prices moved higher. US coffee futures for March rose 0.94% to $348.40. Cocoa moved lower. March cocoa futures fell 0.35% to $5,945. Gold prices climbed again. February gold futures rose 1.31% to $4,562 per ounce.
The Colombian peso strengthened against major currencies. The US dollar fell 1.25% against the peso to 3,697. The Brazilian real also weakened versus the peso.
The US Dollar Index was mostly unchanged, holding near 97.70.
It was a calm session overall, with modest gains and limited trading pressure.
