On Thursday, June 9, the India National Cricket Team and the South African National Cricket Team will play the opening of the five-match T20 International (T20I) series at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
KL Rahul, India's captain, was ruled out of the five-match T20 Series against South Africa. The side will be led by wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant, who has been appointed as Rahul's deputy.
Umran Malik bowled at 163.7 kmph in the practise session leading up to the first T20 match. He instantly impressed head coach Rahul Dravid with his speed.
"94% of the tickets have been sold. There are around 400-500 tickets remaining," DDCA joint secretary Rajan Manchanda stated to PTI on ticket sales for the opening match of T20I.
The first match of the five-match T20I series featuring KL Rahul's India and Temba Bavuma's South Africa will be played on June 9 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Both sides have previously played 15 matches together so far, with India holding a considerable advantage with 9 wins to South Africa's 6 victories.
The hosts will be headed by KL Rahul and will feature some fresh faces, including pacers Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh, with India's main players like skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah resting for the series.
With 17 games faced each other in T20 Internationals so far, India has a slight lead over South Africa, with 9 wins to South Africa's six wins in the shortest format.
Team India will be captained by KL Rahul, with Rishabh Pant as vice-captain, due to the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma from the series.
India powered to a strong position, credit to the partnership by Shafali Verma's (53), and Smriti Mandhana's (71) against South Africa.
