IND V SA T20I: Kuldeep Yadav ruled out of series; Hardik Pandya appointed as vice-captain

On Thursday, June 9, the India National Cricket Team and the South African National Cricket Team will play the opening of the five-match T20 International (T20I) series at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Before the day of the first match of five-match T20I series against South Africa, Kuldeep Yadav, who was injured on the right hand during batting in the nets on Monday evening, was ruled out.

KL Rahul who has been selected captain of the Indian team for the home T20I series against South Africa in the absence of Rohit Sharma, who has been rested for the series, also has been ruled out of the T20I series owing to his injury on Wednesday (June 8). The team lead by KL Rahul In the Eliminator, the Lucknow Super Giants faced Royal Challengers Bangalore and lost, knocking them out of the tournament.

The two injured players were not replaced, and they will now head to NCA to determine their next course of action.

Hardik Pandya, who captained the Gujarat Titans to the Indian Premier League 2022 title, has been appointed as Rishabh Pant’s deputy for the five-match T20I series.

Pandya is a hard-hitting middle-order batsman and fast bowler who has represented India in 11 Tests, 63 one-day internationals, and 54 Twenty20 matches.

He missed the T20 World Cup last year due to a back issue, but he proved his ability by scoring 487 runs and taking eight wickets in 15 IPL matches.

Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Shami have been rested for the South Africa series and will fly directly to England for the all-format tour.
