India’s KL Rahul will lead the squad in a five-match T20I series against South Africa, which will begin on June 9 at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium. India has won 12 consecutive T20I matches.
Afghanistan and Romania hold the world record for most consecutive wins in T20I cricket. Ahead of the series, Team India will try to break the record.
Both sides have previously played 15 matches together so far, with India holding a considerable advantage with 9 wins to South Africa’s 6. However, when South Africa face India in India, the Proteas have won three of the four matches, while India has only won one. The last instance India and South Africa met was in a three-match T20I series in September of 2019.
So far in the history of the T20I, the India vs South Africa series hasn’t ended in a draw despite playing 15 Twenty20 Internationals together. If the series, which begins on June 9th, ends in a tie, it will be the first time.
A five-match home T20I series against South Africa will kick off India’s preparation for the upcoming Men’s T20 World Cup this year.
