Shaadi.com founder and Shark Tank India judge Anupam Mittal took to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday to voice his concerns over ongoing UPI disruptions, stating that digital payments continue to struggle 24 hours after the initial outage, contrary to media reports that suggested a brief one-hour downtime.
In his post, Mittal wrote, “Digital payments via #UPI continue to struggle after 24 hrs while we have media reporting it was down only for an hour. Increasingly problem solving is become problem spinning 🙇🏻♂️ @NPCI_NPCI solve karo pls🙏🏼 Desh ke GDP ka sawaal hai 😅.”

His remarks come amid growing user complaints on social media regarding failed UPI transactions across platforms. Users have been reporting delays, failed money transfers, and inaccessibility to services via UPI apps like PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm.
Mittal’s post tagged the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the governing body behind UPI, urging them to resolve the issue urgently, highlighting the economic significance of UPI reliability.
There has been no official clarification yet from NPCI regarding the extended outage or its root cause. The UPI system, which has become the backbone of India’s digital payment ecosystem, facilitates billions of transactions monthly and any prolonged downtime could have widespread implications across businesses and daily life.
