Mumbai airport runways temporarily shut down as private jet carrying 8 skids off

Amid torrential downpour, an aircraft carrying eight passengers skids off the runway at Mumbai Airport, leading to a temporary shutdown. The VSR Ventures Learjet, owned by Bhopal-based Dilip Buildcon, was en route from Vizag when the incident occurred.

An airplane with 8 passengers veered off the runway at Mumbai airport. Due to heavy rainfall, an airplane carrying eight passengers lost control and skidded off the runway at Mumbai airport at 5:02 pm on Thursday. As a result, both runways at Mumbai Airport have been closed for operations and are currently under inspection.

The aircraft, a VSR Ventures Learjet 45 with the registration VT-DBL, was en route from Vizag (Visakhapatnam) to Mumbai when it veered off the runway during landing. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation stated in a release, “The VSR Ventures Learjet 45 aircraft VT-DBL, which was operating a flight from Vizag to Mumbai, was involved in a runway excursion while landing on runway 27 at Mumbai airport. The aircraft had six passengers and two crew members on board. At the time of the incident, visibility was 700 meters due to heavy rain.” The aircraft is owned by Dilip Buildcon, an infrastructure development company based in Bhopal.
