The regulatory body stated that June 2021’s passenger traffic recorded a growth of 56.9 percent in comparison to the same month of the year 2020.

However, it is important to note that flight restrictions have been relaxed comparatively since last year when harsh lockdowns were imposed in the country to contain the spread of COVID-19.

After recovering from the damage caused in 2020, the air passenger traffic had dropped between the months of  March and May again due to the second wave of coronavirus. From June, the daily count of cases has started to decline and as a result, many restrictions have been eased.

Last month, SpiceJet had registered the highest passenger load factor of 71 percent. Meanwhile, the passenger load factor of Go Air was recorded at 70.9 percent, followed by Star Air at 65.9 percent and Air India recording 58.4 percent.

The DGCA informed about the overall cancellation rate of scheduled flights for June 2021, which stood at 2.90 percent.

Reportedly, IndiGo was the most punctual airline in May with an on-time performance rate of 98.5 percent.
