On Monday, May 8, however, RTI activist Anil Galgali revealed the incident after posting a video of it online. A barbed fence and wall rubble could be seen in the footage.

Despite the fact that the runway is still nearby, Galgali claims that the wall in front of the Jarimari graveyard on Kurla Andheri road has crumbled.

The BMC contractor is there, and the presence of JCB poses a threat of wall collapse.

According to a tweet from Galgali, BMC contractors have started sewage work adjacent to the wall. He described the fall of a wall next to the runway at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Jarimari, Mumbai. Whose responsibility is it that BMC contractors are digging up the sewer close to the wall? Until the task is completed, there is a clear danger here.

The airport management is moving slowly on this issue, despite the fact that it may pose a danger to airport security. The airport management is ignoring the urgency with which they must respond. Anil Galgali claims the most pressing concern is how quickly the wall can be constructed using just sheets.

“On Sunday, 7th May 2023 at 18:32 hrs., a portion of the perimeter wall of approx. 12-15 ft. near Gate 27 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) collapsed due to ongoing construction & maintenance work on the city-side, adjoining the wall. As soon as the incident was reported, CSMIA Airside Security and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) were immediately informed. As a precautionary measure, additional guards were deployed at the location, and safety barricades were quickly installed to cordon off the affected area and secure the perimeter. There was no disruption to any airport operations or services. Also, no injuries or casualties were reported. CSMIA continues to maintain the highest standards of safety and security and is taking all necessary steps to investigate the incident,” said a CSMIA spokesperson.
