Zain Nadella, son of Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella dies at 26

In an email, the software company informed its senior team that Zain had died.

Zain Nadella, the son of Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and his wife Anu, died on Monday morning, according to the company. He had cerebral palsy from birth and was 26 years old.

Zain died, according to an email from the software company’s leadership team. The note requested CEOs to keep the family in their thoughts and prayers while also allowing them to grieve discreetly.

Since taking over as CEO in 2014, Nadella has focused the firm on building products that better assist customers with disabilities, citing lessons he gained while raising and supporting Zain. The Children’s Hospital, where Zain had much of his therapy, collaborated with the Nadellas last year to create the Zain Nadella Endowed Chair in Pediatric Neurosciences as part of the Seattle Children’s Center for Integrative Brain Research.

“Zain will be remembered for his eclectic taste in music, his bright sunny smile, and the immense joy he brought to his family and all those who loved him,” Children’s Hospital CEO Jeff Sperring said in a statement to his Board that was shared with Microsoft officials.
