A shocking incident unfolded in Punjab’s Fazilka district on Thursday, December 11, after a man was shot dead in the parking lot of a local court in Abohar. The victim, identified as Akash alias Golu Pandit, had arrived for a scheduled hearing in an Arms Act case when the attack took place.

According to preliminary information from the police, three assailants arrived in a car, entered the parking area, and opened fire at close range. Akash sustained multiple bullet injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed shortly after.

Fazilka Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gurmeet Singh confirmed that one of the three car-borne attackers fired the shots before the group fled the scene. Police teams have launched a search operation, examining CCTV footage from the court complex and nearby areas to trace the vehicle and identify the shooters.

Authorities are also probing whether the attack was linked to personal enmity, gang rivalry or the ongoing case in which Akash was appearing.

More updates awaited as the investigation progresses.
