Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached LNJP Hospital in Delhi late on Monday night to meet those injured in the Red Fort car blast, which claimed 10 lives and left over 20 injured, according to hospital sources.
Amit Shah, who had earlier issued a detailed statement confirming that multiple agencies including the NIA, NSG, and FSL are investigating the explosion, arrived at the hospital shortly after inspecting the blast site near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station.
Sources at LNJP confirmed that the Home Minister was briefed by senior doctors on the condition of the injured, several of whom remain in critical care. He met victims and assured them that the government would ensure the best possible medical treatment and full support to their families.
Earlier, Amit Shah said that within 10 minutes of the incident, teams from Delhi Police Crime Branch, Special Branch, and forensic units had reached the spot. He also directed agencies to review all CCTV footage from the surrounding area and explore every possible lead, ruling out no angle in the investigation.
The blast, which took place in a Hyundai i20 at the Subhash Marg traffic signal, led to a massive fire, damaging multiple nearby vehicles. Authorities have termed the explosion as “severe” and are probing whether it involved improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The government has declared a high alert across Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh, with security intensified at metro stations, airports, and major landmarks.
