Union Home Minister Amit Shah has confirmed that a high-level review meeting will be held shortly with top officials from central and state security agencies to assess the situation following the Red Fort car blast that has so far claimed 13 lives and injured over 20 others.

Shah, who visited the LNJP Hospital late Monday night to meet those injured in the explosion, said that the government is treating the matter with utmost seriousness and will be reviewing all security, intelligence, and forensic updates in the upcoming meeting.

“A detailed review meeting will be held with senior officials from the Delhi Police, NIA, NSG, and the Ministry of Home Affairs. Every aspect of the incident — including possible terror links, the type of explosive used, and security lapses — will be thoroughly examined,” Shah told reporters.

Focus of the review meeting

The meeting, expected to take place late Monday night or early Tuesday, will involve the Home Secretary, Intelligence Bureau (IB) Chief, Delhi Police Commissioner, and NIA Director-General. It will focus on:

  • Forensic findings from the Red Fort blast site.
  • Preliminary interrogation reports of the detained suspect.
  • Tracing the Haryana-registered Hyundai i20 car involved in the explosion.
  • Heightened security measures across Delhi, NCR, and Uttar Pradesh following the blast.

According to officials, a multi-agency coordination plan is also being prepared to ensure a unified investigation and prevent the spread of misinformation.

Security across Delhi and NCR tightened

Following the explosion, Delhi, NCR, and Uttar Pradesh have been placed on high alert, with increased police patrols, vehicle checks, and surveillance at key landmarks and metro stations.
