Indian benchmark indices were trading lower in midday deals on March 12. The Nifty 50 declined 148.90 points, or 0.62%, to 23,717.95, while the BSE Sensex slipped 458.63 points, or 0.60%, to 76,405.08. Selling pressure was visible across several large-cap stocks in the Nifty 50 pack.
Among individual stocks, Eicher Motors was the biggest loser in the index during midday trade. The stock was trading at ₹6,993.0, down 3.6%.
Mahindra & Mahindra also saw notable declines. The shares were quoted at ₹3,068.0, falling 3.2% in the session.
Automobile major Maruti Suzuki India traded lower as well. The stock was at ₹13,138.0, down 2.7%.
Retail-focused company Trent declined 2.3% to ₹3,545.0 during midday trading.
Airline operator InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of IndiGo, was trading at ₹4,261.0, registering a 2.1% decline.
Cement major UltraTech Cement also remained under pressure, slipping 2.0% to ₹11,232.0.
In the auto space, Tata Motors was trading at ₹329.2, down 1.8%.
Financial services firm Bajaj Finance declined 1.7% to ₹878.6.
FMCG major Hindustan Unilever traded 1.6% lower at ₹2,126.9.
Private sector lender ICICI Bank also slipped 1.6%, with the stock at ₹1,274.0 as of midday trade.
Overall, losses in automobile, financial, FMCG, and aviation stocks weighed on the Nifty 50 during the session.
