Indian equity benchmarks were trading lower in midday deals on March 12, with the Nifty 50 at 23,717.95, down 148.90 points or 0.62%, while the BSE Sensex stood at 76,405.08, declining 458.63 points or 0.60%. The Nifty Bank slipped 1.07% to 55,140.40, while Nifty Midcap Select was down 0.22% at 12,932.95.
Despite the broader market weakness, a few Nifty 50 constituents traded in positive territory during midday trade, as of 12:10 PM.
Coal India emerged as the top gainer, rising 4.3% to ₹465.9.
NTPC advanced 1.9% to ₹387.0 during the session.
Adani Enterprises was also higher, gaining 1.6% to ₹2,006.3.
Power Grid Corporation traded up 1.3% at ₹302.7.
Reliance Industries moved 1.2% higher to ₹1,407.1.
Among IT stocks, Tech Mahindra gained 1.0% to ₹1,347.7, while HCL Technologies added 0.8% to ₹1,360.5.
Shriram Finance edged up 0.2% to ₹1,034.2.
Tata Consultancy Services traded marginally higher, rising 0.2% to ₹2,469.1, while Wipro also gained 0.2% to ₹202.6.
The gains in these stocks came even as the broader market remained under pressure in midday trading.
