A legal dispute has surfaced around the music rights of Varun Dhawan’s upcoming romantic comedy Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, with producer Ramesh Taurani and Tips Music strongly rejecting claims made by Pooja Entertainment regarding ownership of the film’s soundtrack.

According to reports , Pooja Entertainment had filed a suit before a Civil Judge in Katihar, Bihar, claiming ownership rights over the music used in the film. However, Tips Music has now issued an official clarification calling the allegations “malicious” and stating that the company holds the lawful rights to all music associated with the project. The music label also claimed that it possesses valid legal documents to support its ownership.

The controversy has quickly grabbed attention online as Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is one of the most anticipated Bollywood entertainers of 2026. Directed by veteran filmmaker David Dhawan, the film stars Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur in lead roles. The movie is produced by Ramesh Taurani under the Tips Films banner and promises a colourful romantic-comedy entertainer in David Dhawan’s signature style.

Interestingly, the film’s title is inspired by the iconic song “Ishq Sona Hai” from David Dhawan’s 1999 hit Biwi No.1. Reports suggest the soundtrack includes recreated versions and new-age commercial tracks composed by multiple artists, with Tips Music officially handling the audio rights of the film.

The film was recently shifted to a June 12, 2026 theatrical release to avoid a box-office clash with Yash’s Toxic. Despite the legal controversy, promotions for the movie are expected to continue as planned, with fans eagerly awaiting the trailer and music album launch.
