In a rare convergence of personal experience and public advocacy, Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra has publicly celebrated her husband, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, after he urged Parliament to enshrine paternity leave as a legal right for all Indian fathers.
Chadha made the intervention during the ongoing Rajya Sabha session today, framing paternity leave not as a perk but as a fundamental step toward shared parenting. “When a child is born, both parents are congratulated, but the responsibility of caregiving falls disproportionately on the mother,” he told the House. “A father should not have to choose between caring for his newborn and keeping his job. Similarly, a mother should not have to go through childbirth and recovery without her partner’s support. Caregiving is a shared responsibility. Our laws must reflect that.”
The timing could not be more personal. Parineeti and Raghav welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Neer, on October 19, 2025—just five months ago. Parineeti, who has been vocal about the joys and challenges of new motherhood, responded instantly on Instagram beneath Raghav’s post about the speech. “Proud to say that this thoughtful leader—solving issue after issue for the public—is my husband and my baby’s father!” she wrote. She added, “Seeing you as a hands-on father every day, I KNOW how personal this is for you! Proud of you. Today, every mother who feels alone and is left alone, is going to feel seen and heard today!”
Her words carry the weight of lived reality. The couple, who got engaged in May 2023 at Delhi’s Kapurthala House and married in September 2023 at The Leela Palace in Udaipur, has often spoken about balancing high-profile careers with family life. Raghav’s latest intervention fits a consistent pattern: he has repeatedly used Parliament as a platform for everyday concerns—online delivery deadlines, sugary packaged juices, mobile recharge validity, joint income-tax filing for married couples, and disability pension relief for soldiers—earning him a growing reputation as a problem-solver for ordinary citizens.
Parineeti’s proud Instagram endorsement—simple, warm, and unmistakably genuine—has already gone viral, turning a policy debate into a relatable family story. In an era when celebrity couples often shield their private lives, the Chopras-Chadhas have chosen transparency, using their platform to spotlight issues that affect millions of new parents across the country.
