In 2026, Power Book III: Raising Kanan will conclude with its highly anticipated fifth and final season, offering viewers a deeply gratifying experience as they witness the tumultuous journey of Kanan Stark during his formative years in 1990s Queens via the explosive Saga of the Thomas Family. The returning fan base is on pins and needles waiting for the series’ final installment which will provide both action and drama. The new season will also resolve countless unanswered questions from previous seasons, including Breeze’s rise to the top (which was at the center of the shocking events of Season 4).
Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 5 Release Date Speculations
Starz has confirmed Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 5 will be its fifth & final season. This season was renewed for production on March 2024; filming is complete as of June 2025, and an official teaser was released for this season on November 2025 marking the beginning of the rollout for release.
The exact premiere date for Season 5 is not known yet; however, it has been confirmed by Starz that Season 5 will air in 2026. Industry analysts expect a summer 2026 release based upon historical dates of prior seasons entering production, with many citing June as a very plausible window for when it will continue. However, at this time Starz has not pinned down any dates within these months so any level above month is speculative until officially announced by the network.
Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 5 Expected Cast
The final season will have the key ensemble cast of actors back together again with MeKai Curtis as Kanan Stark at the centre of it all. He is on the path to becoming the man we see in the original Power series.
London Brown will be back as Marvin Thomas, and he will be joined by Malcolm Mays as Lou-Lou Thomas and Hailey Kilgore as LaVerne “Jukebox” Thomas. Joey Bada$$ will also be returning as Unique, who has been highly important to the story throughout.
There are other cast members who will also be coming back, including Wendell Pierce (Snaps), and other cast members may include Tony Danza, Erika Woods, Pardison Fontaine, Chris Redd, Sibongile Mlambo, and Paul Ben-Victor.
A new addition to the series but a long-term mention in the Power universe is shameik Moore, who will be playing Branford “Breeze” Frady, and other cast members also return in the new season such as Joseph Sikora (Tommy), who directed an episode of this season as well.
Patina Miller (Raq Thomas) rode off into the sunset and left viewers wanting more after Season 4. Although there haven’t been any public announcements regarding her status, there are currently some official reports that indicate familial relations within the Thomas family will be explored even further in this season finale.
Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 5 Potential Plot
This 5th season will serve as the final chapter for Kanan Stark’s life as a young man living in the drug culture of the 1990’s. According to showrunner Sascha Penn, When creating Raising Kanan, he envisioned the series continuing through 5 Seasons – this will take Kanan from his youthful years up to where audiences first saw him in the original series, Power. Season 5 has been designed to have definite endings to all of the various stories created throughout Kanan’s journey and to help finish these stories in a manner where no questions are unanswered.
The final 5 episodes will be picking up immediately following the end of Season 4 (which ended with an explosion in the form of a cliffhanger), and season 5 will force Kanan into making some very difficult moral decisions, where the truths that he’s been avoiding for some time will be revealed. While addressing the main themes of loyalty, identity, and betrayal, we will continue to watch the Thomas family deal with their decisions and the effects those decisions will have on their family and future. With the introduction of Breeze, we will also have a connection between the show and the overall Power universe, and assist the development of Kanan toward becoming the man we meet in Power. According to the Starz network, Raising Kanan will provide a very impactful final season that will focus on providing closure rather than continuing the storyline.
