Band Baaja Baaraat
Ranbir was the original preference for Maneesh Sharma’s Band Baaja Baaraat. But the actor was not too positive with the story and denied it. The role ultimately went to Ranveer and marked his debut in Bollywood.
Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela
Ranbir Kapoor was finalised for Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela and Ranveer Singh was roped in for Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet. However, director Anurag Kashyap reinstated Ranveer with Ranbir and later Ranveer skimmed into Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram-Leela. While the Bombay Velvet flunked to perform at the box office, the other proved to be a turning point for Ranveer’s career. The film not only became an enormous hit, but Ranveer and Deepika’s affection also flowered on the sets of the film.
Dil Dhadakne Do
Ranbir had always expressed his interest to work with Zoya Akhtar. But when she had offered him a role in Dil Dhadakne Do, he turned it down. It ultimately became Ranveer Singh’s gain.
Aditya Chopra originally wished to cast Ranbir Kapoor to play the role opposite Vani Kapoor in Befikre. According to reports, a cold conflict between Ranbir Kapoor and Aditya Chopra made the producer choose Ranveer Singh for the role.
