Sanjay Dutt’s much-talked-about political drama Aakhri Sawal has officially received a UA 16+ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), clearing the way for its theatrical release on May 15, 2026. The certification update arrives shortly after the film’s hard-hitting trailer sparked major discussions online for its bold political themes and emotionally charged storytelling.
According to the makers, the film was certified by the CBFC on May 12 after undergoing scrutiny due to the sensitive nature of its subject matter. The announcement has now increased anticipation among moviegoers who have been closely following the film since its teaser release. Aakhri Sawal will be distributed nationwide by PVR INOX Pictures.
Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Abhijeet Mohan Warang, the film features an ensemble cast led by Sanjay Dutt, who also serves as producer alongside Nikhil Nanda. The cast also includes Amit Sadh, Namashi Chakraborty, Sameera Reddy, Tridha Choudhury and Neetu Chandra.
The recently released trailer hints at a politically intense narrative revolving around youth protests, freedom of expression and historical debates. Several scenes from the trailer have already gone viral on social media platforms, with audiences praising the film’s serious tone and powerful dialogues.
Reports earlier suggested that the project faced delays related to CBFC clearance because of its politically sensitive themes. However, with the censor process now complete, the makers have intensified promotions ahead of release.
Backed by Nikhil Nanda Motion Pictures, Aakhri Sawal is now emerging as one of the most anticipated Bollywood releases of May 2026.
