NHPC Limited has announced the commencement of commercial operations for Unit 4 of the , which has a capacity of 250 MW. This marks a significant milestone in the development of the 2000 MW project, located in and . The unit began operations at midnight on 8 May 2026.

The Subansiri Lower Hydro Electric Project, which consists of eight units each with a capacity of 250 MW, has now seen four of its units, namely Unit 1, Unit 2, Unit 3, and Unit 4, enter commercial operation. has stated that the commercial operation dates for the remaining units will be announced in due course.

This development follows a series of updates and regulatory filings by NHPC, in compliance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations & Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. The company has been providing regular updates on the progress of the project, with previous communications dating back to October 2023.
