Datamatics has announced a partnership with SBI Life Insurance to modernise underwriting operations using Agentic AI-powered automation.

The collaboration will see SBI Life implement Datamatics’ TruAI Underwriting solution to improve efficiency in handling complex medical underwriting cases. The platform is designed to support underwriters by analysing medical histories, laboratory reports, declarations, and other risk-related documents.

Underwriting remains one of the most critical functions for life insurers, particularly in cases involving detailed medical evaluations and multiple risk indicators. Traditionally, these assessments have depended heavily on manual review processes conducted by experienced underwriters.

Datamatics said its TruAI Underwriting platform uses Agentic AI capabilities to extract key medical parameters, identify potential risks, and generate consolidated digital case summaries. The system also provides intelligent decision support based on underwriting rules and historical outcomes.

According to the company, the platform features self-learning capabilities that continuously improve risk evaluation processes over time. However, final underwriting decisions will continue to remain with human underwriters to maintain governance, accountability, and regulatory compliance.

The implementation is expected to help SBI Life improve operational efficiency, accelerate underwriting decisions, and enhance customer experience.

Rahul Kanodia, Vice Chairman and CEO of Datamatics, said the company is making strategic investments in AI and Agentic AI technologies to address complex enterprise challenges.

He added that solutions such as TruAI Underwriting demonstrate how AI investments are translating into measurable business impact for customers by helping insurers operate faster and reduce operational costs.

The partnership highlights the growing adoption of AI-driven automation across the insurance sector as companies focus on improving accuracy, scalability, and turnaround time in underwriting operations.
