Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, has commenced commercial operations at its 2.0 MTPA Bhojudih Coal Washery, effective from May 26, 2026, according to an exchange filing.
The newly commissioned Bhojudih facility is a three-product medium coking coal washery with a raw coal washing capacity of 2 million tonnes per annum (20 lakh tonnes annually). The washery has been developed under the Build, Operate and Maintain (BOM) model and incorporates advanced coal beneficiation technologies.
According to the company, the facility is equipped with systems including Heavy Media Cyclone, Spiral Concentrator and Froth Flotation technologies, aimed at improving the processing and beneficiation of coking coal.
The company said the washery will facilitate the production of washed coking coal for supply to the steel sector, supporting downstream industrial demand and improving coal quality.
BCCL is one of Coal India’s major subsidiaries and plays a key role in India’s coking coal production ecosystem, supplying fuel primarily to steel manufacturers.
