Akzo Nobel India has informed the exchanges that it has received an Appeal Order from the Odisha GST Department on December 1, 2025, updating the status of an ongoing litigation first disclosed on March 4, 2025. The company shared the development in a regulatory filing under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Regulations.
According to the order issued by the Additional Commissioner of State Tax (Appeals), Bhubaneswar, the revised demand amount now stands at Rs 67,56,703, which includes tax of Rs 35,00,932, interest of Rs 29,05,678, and a penalty of Rs 3,50,093. This replaces the earlier demand of Rs 69,49,990 raised in the March 3, 2025 order, which related to disallowance of input tax credit for the financial year 2020–21 under Section 73 of the CGST/SGST Act.
Akzo Nobel India stated that it had previously submitted its reply and supporting documentation within the prescribed timelines after receiving the first order. The revised appeal order, which the company received at 3:30 pm on December 1, allows for further submissions, and the company confirmed that it is currently in the process of responding within the indicated timelines.
The company noted that the litigation does not involve any key managerial personnel or promoters. The proceedings remain ongoing until the matter is resolved by the relevant authorities.
