Shares of Associated Alcohols & Breweries Ltd (AABL) rose over 3.77% to Rs 1,016.30 on Tuesday after the company announced it has received an SL-1 license from the Excise Department, enabling it to commence malt spirit production at its Barwaha facility in Madhya Pradesh.

In a regulatory filing made on October 7, AABL confirmed that it has officially started the manufacture, processing, and maturation of malt spirits at the Barwaha unit. The move marks a key expansion milestone for the company, which has been strategically diversifying its production base and product portfolio.

According to the company, this license approval will significantly enhance operational efficiency and product range. The addition of malt spirit production capability is expected to:

  • Expand AABL’s product range by adding malt-based spirits to its existing lineup.
  • Increase total production capacity, supporting higher output and efficiency.
  • Position the company for market growth, particularly in the premium spirits segment.
